Poetry shows and poetry workshops:

Daniel (a former primary school teacher) is available to work with individual classes, year groups or your whole school.

The Poetry Show and workshops support many elements of the national curriculum for English including the programmes of study for reading and writing and its overarching aim.

‘to promote high standards of language and literacy by equipping pupils with a strong command of the spoken and written language, and to develop their love of literature through widespread reading for enjoyment.’

Aimed at years 4-6 and The Poetry Show can be targeted to individual classes, year groups or your whole school. The show is modular which means it can be adapted to meet your specific needs and your timetable.

I also facilitate class, year group or whole school word related activities and displays across the classroom or school environment – to celebrate words and inspire pupils to play with words and increase their vocabulary.

Poetry Show: We are ALL poets!

We are ALL poets is a fun interactive poetry show that combines performing poetry with inspiring pupils to write their own poetry and sharing top tips. An hour show with Q&A is £80. This can be for a class or year group. A show can be built to suit your needs from the following modules:

Poetry show modules:

1: ‘Words’

The importance of choosing words carefully and developing a wide vocabulary – with lots of top tips.

2: Why poetry?

Why do we write poetry? What’s the point? Enables pupils to understand a range of different reasons why we may write poetry. Reading and performing a range of different types of poetry to inspire pupils.

3: Imagination

Inspiring pupils to use their imagination, to grab hold of nuggets of an idea they have and to press on with those ideas to develop those ideas into poems.

4: Creation

Inspiring pupils to create poems for themselves by having a vision, gathering the ingredients and putting it all together – with Top Tips and examples from Daniel’s poetry.

5: Rhythm

Inspiring pupils to create poems experimenting with rhythm. To notice rhythm in the real world. Listening to and collaboratively performing some of Daniel’s rhythmic poems.

The Poetry Show supports the overarching aim of the national curriculum for English and specific aims for pupils to:

acquire a wide vocabulary
be competent in the arts of speaking and listening
develop the habit of reading widely and often, for both pleasure and information

The Poetry Show also supports the programmes of study for reading and writing – with its many references to poetry.

Class, year group or whole school activities

Kicking off with a class, year group or whole school presentation, Daniel will facilitate a class, year group or whole school celebration of words and word related activities across the classroom or school environment – to inspire pupils to play with words and increase their vocabulary.
